21st Annual Underwood New Music Readings
Hear the rising stars of the composition world as they showcase their stuff and compete for a $15,000 commission prize.
The 21st Annual Underwood New Music Reading Sessions will be held in New York City at DiMenna Center for Classical Music on June 1-2, 2012. Up to six composers in the early stages of their careers were selected to participate. One will be awarded a $15,000 commission to write a new work to be performed by ACO.
At the readings, composers will meet with ACO artistic staff, orchestra members -- including ACO's Music Director George Manahan, and composer advisors Robert Beaser, Derek Bermel, Melinda Wager and Steven Stucky -- and receive critical commentary and feedback.
Come hear the works of these young composers in an open rehearsal with ACO members and artistic staff. The rehearsal is free and open to the public, but you do need to reserve a ticket.
